Significant Unavoidable Adverse, Permanent Impacts

Here is how CalPortland’s own technical documents describe what dewatering will cause:

Significant Unavoidable Adverse Permanent Impacts
Drawing down the Vashon Aquifer would reduce flows in Sequalitchew Creek upstream of the proposed confluence with (the proposed) North Sequalitchew Creek, such that most flow would be subsurface.

Aquifer drawdown would modify springs near Sequalitchew Creek and could reduce near-shore springs near Puget Sound. Aquifer drawdown could reduce the wetland area in Sequalitchew Creek riparian forest wetlands, West Edmond Marsh and Wetland 1D, and degrade wetland habitat in these wetlands due to early season loss of surface inundation and saturation in the early growing and breeding season.”
